Club Benefits

Members of the Wells & District  Water Ski Club are automatically members of the British Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation and have personal accident insurance through BWSW as part of that membership.  Membership of the club entitles a boat owner to launch at Wells-next-the-Sea harbour and to use the water at Wells for skiing - (launch fee included in boat owner fee).  The water is available for skiing at high tide for approximately 4 hours each day.  The club has a beach hut for members' use.  Members can also use the variety of inflatable toys including the famous yellow sausage.  The gazebos, tables and chairs are also available for members' use.  More importantly you will be skiing at Wells with a safety conscious managed club.

A boat owner must join with at least one person 14 years or older.  You will be provided with ski club stickers and boat numbers which must be displayed at all times.  These are returnable should you decide to leave the club.  An annual harbour launch disc will be provided to attach to your windscreen.  You must have an observer in the boat at all times and who must also be a club member.  Your boat must be insured with a third party liability of at least £2m.  The boat owner must have a copy of the Safety Plan in the boat (available from the Safety page) and communicate the contents to all members of their team.   A new boat owner must accompanied around the club course circuit by a committee member before using the course for skiing and is expected to obtain the Ski Boat Driver Award within 6 months of joining.

All members must sign a declaration to confirm they will abide by all club rules.  They must also sign to declare that they will accept responsibility for their own safety and show a duty of care to ensure the safety of passengers, skiers and members of the public.
